Zipcar is a very cool international car share program, which is perfect for anyone who doesn't have a car (yes, there are some car-less folk out there, even in L.A.!) but periodically needs wheels, or for those of you who would like access to a new "2nd car" for times when your primary vehicle is in the shop, or perhaps you need to save up for those high repair costs on older vehicles and need some wheels in the interim. Also perfect if you have out-of-town guests, or maybe you just want to joyride in a new set of wheels for a special trip or occasion. For a meager one-time $25 application fee (no credit check, you just need a driver's license!), and a $50 annual membership fee, you can have access to Zipcar wheels when you want them, either on an hourly or daily rate basis, with UNLIMITED gas, and insurance is also included! They have fleets in most metropolitan areas, as well as internationally, and as a member you have access to all of them, including 2010 Mini Coopers, Hybrids, Scions, Smarts, and more, woohoo! And they are always adding more cars to their fleets based on demand to ensure vehicle availability. You can book online, by phone, or by text, and can easily extend your reservation by text as well.
